Unmatched Slew Rate for Millisecond-Level Grid Interruptions for Fault Ride-Through Test

LVRT, HVRT and ZVRT, ROCOF, along with the slew rate are what test engineers mostly care about as the fundamental specifications for a dynamic and responsive testing test bench. TITAN produces real-world transient anomalies with a high slew rate of 1V/μs and ultra-low THD <0.5%.

  • Sub-Cycle Fault Emulation: 1 ms sub-cycle voltage interruptions (e.g., rapid dips of 680V within 1/20 of a 50 Hz period) with a clean, flat-bottom profile.
  • Seamless Recovery: Instantaneous voltage recovery to the nominal sinusoid with the slightest overshoot, ringing, or phase discontinuity.
  • Standard Pre-Compliance: Custom sequence in alignment with VDE-AR-N 4105, IEC 61000-4-11, IEC 61000-4-29, and IEC 61000-4-34 for short-duration disturbance immunity.

The left image shows a 3-phase AC voltage swell and recovery with switching transient spikes; the top split-screen image zooms in on a sharp voltage spike (green channel) interrupting a sine wave, followed by a phase shift; the bottom image displays a macroscopic view of a momentary voltage interruption and recovery; the right split-screen image zooms in on a sudden voltage sag where 3-phase sine waves abruptly drop to near-zero amplitude, typical of Low/Zero Voltage Ride Through (LVRT/ZVRT) testing. real waveforms captured during TITAN grid simulator's testing scenarios, including clean LVRT profile where almost no ripples detected during the Zero voltage stage - Side-by-side Tektronix oscilloscope captures of actual test waveforms. The left image shows a 3-phase AC transient disturbance test; a 50x split-screen zoomed view uses cursors to precisely capture a phase voltage step of 685.0V occurring over a 1.000ms duration. The right image displays periodic voltage notches near the peak of a single-phase AC sine wave; a 5x zoomed view measures a specific notch with a 1.000ms width and a transient amplitude drop of 680.0V.

The top pane shows a macro view of a 3-phase AC voltage at 100ms/div, highlighting the disturbance region. The bottom pane uses a 10x split-screen zoom (Z 10.0ms) to detail a phase jump transient disturbance injected into the 3-phase grid. The zoomed view clearly captures instantaneous phase angle shifts and associated high-frequency transient spikes on the sine waves, with a vertical scale of 100V/div across all three channels.

Asymmetrical Emulation: Fully Independent 3-Phase Control for Complex Grid Imbalances

TITAN provides fully decoupled control over all three AC phases, enabling continuous phase adjustment from 0° to 359.9° with an ultra-fine 0.1° resolution. This allows for realistic emulation of phase shifts, splitting, and severe voltage imbalances.

Harmonics, Inter-Harmonics & Flicker: Comprehensive Distorted Grid Synthesis

Real grid environments are distorted due to the participation and interoperation of various non-linear loads for which harmonics and inter-harmonics are everywhere. In lab testing conditions, TITAN supports continuous harmonic frequency sweeping, complex inter-harmonic injection (1 Hz to 2500 Hz), and dynamic flicker emulation.

  • Flicker & Waveform Library: Real-time Pst trend previews with 10 predefined flicker levels, plus 27 preset DST waveforms and 100 user-defined profiles.
  • Standard Pre-Compliance: Option of software integration and automated test sequence in compliance with IEEE 519-2022, IEC 61000-3-6, and IEC 61000-4-7.

Optional Integration of FPGA-Based RLC Modelling: Anti-Islanding Test Free from RLC Load Bank

TITAN High-Power Grid Simulator can integrate an additional set of load cabinet for offering integrated RLC network modelling for identifying flexibly, time-savingly, and straightforwardly the most strict NDZ condition against PV inverter and PCS testing. Compared to conventional approach to anti-islanding test, TITAN waivers the essentialness of implementing massive, heat-generating RLC (Resistive, Inductive, Capacitive) load banks, which consume significant lab footprint and drive up HVAC cooling expenses.

  • Zero-Hardware Footprint: No external physical load banks. You can conduct comprehensive passive and active anti-islanding protection verification directly through TITAN.
  • Standard-Compliant Resolution: Precise load-generation balance and decoupling control, strictly fulfilling the challenging anti-islanding test parameters of IEEE 1547.1, UL 1741 SB, and IEC 62116.
  • Reduced TCO and Improved ROI: Saves hundreds of thousands of dollars in load bank procurement, massive cabling infrastructure, and ongoing thermal management costs.

MVA-level bidirectional grid interaction testing for BESS and PCS

BESS PCS & Energy Storage Converters Validation

TITAN Grid Simulator when being integrated with additional load cabinet can server for bidirectional grid interoperability testing with a high-power battery simulator connected to the validaetd PCS's DC-bus with programmable battery voltage, SOC, charge/discharge, and regenerative load conditions, while TITAN emulates the utility grid at the AC output. PCS is assessed for specifications including power conversion performance, grid resilience and capability of withstanding complex PCC conditions as specified by applicable regulations and standards.

MCS (Megawatt Charging System), V2G/V2X Validation

MCS charging facility and systems are supposed to be assessed being tied to AC source where various grid conditions are reproduced for testing its resilience and charging efficiency. TITAN grid simulator, in such a case, TITAN functions together with an EV simulator for testing the MCS system from both AC and DC sides.

V2G testing scenario resembles to grid interoperability testing as other converter testing scenarios for DERs where the grid simulator sink power from the source with controllable active/reactive power control, voltage and frequency ride-through, harmonic immunity, load-step response, protection behaviour along with other electrical behaviours.
