Non-Linear & RLC Load Network Emulation for IEC 62116 Islanding Test and Off-Grid Tests

Apart from the standard load operation modes of CC, CV, CR, and PQ mode, the built-in RLC network within PRO20 reproduces resistive, inductive and capacitive loads with additional features of user-defined balanced and unbalanced linear load conditions. Performing islanding test as per IEC 62116 with PRO20 is streamlined without the essentialness of implementing RLC load banks. The functioning applies as well for the test against off-grid loads including V2L, V2H, UPS, PCS and micro-grid-related validations.IEC 61000, IEEE 1547, etc.

AC, DC, AC+DC and DC+AC Output Modes

PRO20 functions beyond a simple AC programmable source. Test engineers can simulate pure AC source, or configure independently DC output, further with options of setting AC waveforms with DC offsets or vice versa of superimposing DC output with AC ripples for testing complex converters, OBC, UPS and power modules.

Available operation models:
  • AC output
  • DC output
  • AC+DC offset

Built-in Waveform Recipes and User-Defined Waveform Generation

Standard programming capability of PRO20 allows users to define and generate arbitrarily waveforms up to 100th order under modes of List, Wave, Step, Pulse and Advanced programming.

Engineering team of ActionPower can set up pre-compliance testing sequence automation within PRO20 AC's software for facilitating your testing applications. The built-in sequence automation is custom and requested as per each project so that users can access recipe based testing applications and waveforms for quick and simple testing scenario setup. Some standards including:

  • IEC 61000-4-11: Voltage interruption at 90° phase angle, Class 2, 50 Hz

High-Dynamic Waveform and Disturbances Simulation

PRO20 is designed for high-dynamic AC output, with voltage slew rate up to 1.5 V/us in selected configurations to reproduce rapid transients and steep voltage transitions with high fidelity.  For a typical voltage sag use case, PRO20 achieves 90% down to 10% of nominal within just 100 µs. The waveform and disturbances emulation capability is functionally backed by PRO20's excellence in accuracy and precision, with ±0.05% @ F.S. voltage accuracy, frequence accuracy of 0.01% and capability of reproducing harmonics Harmonics up to 100th order at 40-70 Hz.

The high dynamic and fast response testing capability matches use cases of low-voltage ride-through (LVRT) validation, inverter transient response characterization, and compliance with standards like IEC 61000-4-11 for voltage dip and interruption immunity.

Scalable Architecture Based on Power-Module with Further Inter-Cabinet Parallel Options for MVA High Power Density etup

PRO20 AC is available at two voltage platform options of 470V and 900V, correspondingly scales up from 50kVA and 100kVA as the most fundamental power with modular power blocks. While a single cabinet is scalable with itself by stacking power modules, the system allows inter-cabinet master-slave connection to reach 6MVA maximum power for high-power converter testing applications. Further for utility-scale high-power testing applications, check TITAN High-Power Grid Simulator up to 10MVA.
